MATERIALS
Silver
All GEORGINI Jewellery is crafted from 925 Sterling Silver. Pure silver, also called fine silver, is relatively soft, very malleable, and easily damaged, commonly combined with other metals to produce a more durable product.
The most popular of these alloys is sterling silver, which consists of 92.5 per cent silver and 7.5 per cent, copper. Although any metal can make up the 7.5 per cent non-silver portion of sterling, centuries of experimentations have shown copper to be its best companion, improving the hardness and durability of the metal without affecting its beautiful colour.
Silver Jewellery is Rhodium plated to give the effect of white gold or platinum. Rose Gold and Yellow Gold Jewellery are 18ct plated with one micron of plating on earrings and pendants and two microns of plating on rings.
Cubic Zirconium
Cubic Zirconia, or CZ for short, is an artificial, synthetic jewellery gemstone. There are very few substances on earth harder than Cubic Zirconia. With a hardness rating of 8.5 on the Moh’s scale, CZ comes close to matching diamond’s perfect 10.
Freshwater and Shell-Based Pearls
A freshwater pearl is a pearl that is cultured in a mussel in a lake, whereas the traditional cultured pearl is cultured in an oyster in the ocean. A shell-based pearl is an imitation. It is made by painting a shell bead with pearl paint, often made of crushed shell.
Semi-Precious Stones
GEORGINI uses natural semi-precious stones, including White Topaz, Pink Quartz, Blue Topaz, and Amethyst. These natural stones are not only beautiful but inspire positive energy. Rose Quartz for love, White Topaz for hope and happiness, Amethyst for healing and Blue Topaz for creativity. All our natural stones are ethically sourced.
Rhodium Plating
Rhodium plating is a rare and highly reflective transition metal that is a member of the platinum group. Rhodium is a naturally silvery-white metal that is sometimes used in jewellery making and is often electroplated on the surface of other metals to increase the reflectiveness. Rhodium has a lower density and weight than platinum but is heavier than gold. Rhodium is a hard metal with a hardness of 6.0 on the Moh’s scale and a melting point of around 1964°C.
E-Coating
E-coating is a protective and decorative process that enhances the durability and appearance of jewellery, especially on Sterling Silver and 18k Gold Plating. It resists tarnishing and wear and helps prolong the lifespan of jewellery, though proper care is still needed to maintain the finish over time.
