What is a Moissanite?

Moissanite was first discovered in 1893 by French chemist Henri Moissan while looking at rock samples from a meteor crater.  Often referred to as a stone born from the stars, Henri first thought the stones were Diamonds due to their similarity but later, after testing, he found the crystals were made from silicon carbonite. The refractive index of Moissanite is more brilliant than a Diamond giving it exceptional sparkle when exposed to light.  Georgini Mossanites are lab-grown, making them an environmentally conscious stone.  With a hardness of 9.5 on Mohs scale, they are a durable and sparkling alternative to a mined Diamond.

THE 4 C'S

The key factors that determine a diamond's sparkle, the shade it reflects, and its overall recognition in jewelry. These elements collectively define the diamond's brilliance, value, and visual appeal.

COLOUR

Georgini Moissanites resemble a "D – E" colourless white diamond, the most desired colour in mined diamonds.

CUT

Georgini Moissanites are cut in precisely the same way as mined diamonds! They are cut to exacting standards to maximize sparkle and shine! Choose from your favourite shapes; Brilliant Round, Cushion, Pear or Emerald.

CLARITY

Georgini Moissanites are almost flawless (VS diamonds) and only have minor inclusions indistinguishable to the naked eye. Georgini Moissanites are graded as Type Ia stones, meaning they consist of 99% gemstone material and less than 0.05% crystals & iron particles, making them perfect gems!

CARAT

Georgini Moissanites come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Carat is the terminology describing the weight of a diamond. Georgini Moissanites are measured in millimetres and then converted to the equivalent diamond weight (carat).
